Surviving Abuse

Hello all of y'all out there. I am a survivor of domestic violence and there is life after. This site is dedicated to all those people who got out or who are trying. Feel free to share your stories and comments. Post question are just vent. My ex was so bad that my college that I attended paid for my tickets to leave the state. They felt that with his involvement in the Sheriff's department that he would surly find me. I left with my 2 small children while he was at college. The staff from the womens center at the college along with the police went with me to our apartment and helped me pack my things. His mistress/ my best friend sat on the couch crying. We tried to get her to leave to, but she was pregnant with his child I later found out. She stayed and took the lashing out for allowing me to leave without stopping me. I am glad I got out. I will not lie it was hard and scary. They had the cops gaurd the plane while we were waiting for take off and I cried the whole way home. I cried tears of joy and tears of fear. When I landed at the airport I was terrified and frantic that he was going to walk up. I knew I was 4 states away and there was no way, but my mind and heart did not trust that. I stayed in hiding for 3 months and got my protective order and lots of help from local domestic violence organizations. I would not have been able to do it without them. I will post more later about life with this man and survivng.
